About CompareStack
CompareStack is a small set of browser-based tools for people who need to compare documents, inspect text changes, format structured data, or encode values without installing a desktop suite. It is built and maintained by Tarak Moyyi, a software engineer.
Why it exists
Comparison and formatting work often lands in ad hoc places: a desktop diff no one else has installed, a one-off script, or a chat paste that is hard to read. CompareStack collects the workflows I kept needing—text and document diffs, JSON and SQL readability, and URL/Base64 conversion—into pages that also explain what each tool will and will not do.
Who it is for
The tools are aimed at software developers, QA engineers, and technical or business reviewers who already have the text or files in hand. Typical jobs include checking a config change, reading a contract revision that arrived as PDF or Word, auditing a spreadsheet export, or pretty-printing a payload before a review.
Why I built it

What the site includes
Nine tools, grouped by the job they do:
- Document comparison — Text, PDF, Word, and Excel
- Developer tools — JSON formatter, SQL formatter, and code formatter
- Encoding tools — URL encode/decode and Base64 encode/decode
Guides on the blog describe workflows around those tools. How CompareStack works describes processing from the implementation, including limits.
About the developer
Tarak Moyyi is a software engineer who works with backend systems, APIs, databases, web applications, and business software. CompareStack is a personal project: the same person writes the tools, the tool-page documentation, and the guides.
There is no separate editorial department and no claim of a large product organization behind the site. If a guide is wrong, the correction path is the contact page (support@comparestack.in).
How the project changes
Updates are driven by real gaps: a limit that was unclear, a claim that did not match the code, or a workflow that needed a better example. Documented changes are listed on the changelog. I do not publish user counts, customer logos, or review scores.
What CompareStack does not try to replace
- Git, or a full code-review system
- Microsoft Word Track Changes (Word Compare reads extracted text; it does not load comment threads or revision metadata)
- A visual PDF proofing tool or OCR product
- Excel’s formula auditor
- A language-aware formatter such as Prettier, Black, or a SQL linter tied to one database
- Encryption, secret storage, or a document management system
Privacy and ads
Uploads and pasted text are processed to return a result. They are not kept as a personal document library. The site may show third-party ads, including Google AdSense, so the tools can stay free to use. Details are in the Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
